The Outdoor Toddler Activity Book: 100+ Fun Early Learning Activities for Outside Play (Toddler Activity Books) By Krissy Bonning-Gould

Package was up damaged but corners of book were bent. Book didn’t look new. As it was a b’day present had to give it as didn’t have time to replace it Great ideas.
Should state what ages to give you a guildline.
But theres a few ideas I like. One or two good ideas but please, please, please do not use glitter outdoors as suggested in this book (there is a “snow volcano” where glitter and snow explode over the ground).

I am sure most people reading this book will be lovers of nature and the outdoors, and will therefore not want to add micro plastics (which is what glitter is) to the environment. This glitter will eventually end up in the sea where it will be eaten by marine animals and cause untold damage.

There are plastic free glitters available now if this activity feels essential! I hope the author will consider amending or omitting activities like this from future editions. English I don’t like this book. It doesn’t consider the environment so I massively regret my purchase. Activities are over reliant on plastics especially single use plastics. They is an activity that encourages using glitter in the snow. Lots of the activities could be done indoors as it feels like some ideas are actually indoor resources just bought outside. I’m hugely disappointed as I thought an outdoor toddler activity book would have a huge focus on using the outdoor environment respectfully by teaching parent/teacher and toddler ideas for caring for the environment through thoughtfully planned outdoor activities English Looking forward to the good weather to try it out.

A really great book with cool ideas. young-adult-historical-fiction I really don't like how it suggests using sequins and glitter in an outdoor context. Not environmentally friendly. Quite supply heavy. Returning. young-adult-historical-fiction I admit I'm usually skeptical about these kinds of books. I find that either the materials are too expensive or difficult to find or the activity itself isn't that fun for kids (or maybe it's just my kids!). But I took a risk on this book at the start of this shelter at home pandemic phase, knowing I needed some help finding things to do with my three year old and five year old. You can see I've tabbed quite a few of the pages and have done almost all of those activities! I've included a couple of the activities we've tried that have been big hits. I've also tweaked some of the activities to just use what materials we already have or to be appropriate for an indoor activity. Not every activity in this book is relevant for us (or this season) but I'm still happy I took the chance on this book and I would recommend it! What strikes you first about this book is how bright and colorful it is. VERY alive! To make it even easier to find the section you require, the outer edges of the book are color coded blue, green or coral. Outdoor play is important for our children not matter what their age so let's encourage them whilst they are young to get outside.

Written like a recipe book, each activity has a list of materials needed. Sometimes that might just be mud! There's a messiness scale for each activity ranging from 1 5 with 5 being the messiest. Prep time and activity time are also included along with the steps required, tips and caution if applicable. At the very top of the page there is Skills Learned. The full key for all skills is provided on Page 9.

Six chapters:
Outdoor Fun (Intro) * Make it Messy! * Run, Jump, and Play! * Embrace Nature * Get Wet! * Outdoor Art

There are truly a GREAT variety of activities in this book. Some are edible like 'Digging for Worms'. Others, like the Waterfall Fence are innovative. Ever thought of creating a Pavement Chalk Pattern Quilt? (Written for the American market so called Sidewalk Chalk Pattern Quilt in the book.) You will find resources and index at the end. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher. This review consists of my own thoughts and opinions. Thanks, Liz I got this for my grandson who is 4, and we have cool, fun playtime in the backyard. The book has so many great, simple little things to do. He loves it. When it is not raining, we can use the ideas in this great book. It helps when he is the only child among grandparents. Mommy and his Uncle. Plus with the quarantine, it gives him lots of great play ideas and a little purpose too. He needs to be a kid. He thinks he is Boss Baby, so this really helps him do age appropriate games and quests. The author(s) did a good job of coordinating games for decterity, thinking, problem solving, and just plain fun. We also bought the Toddler Rainy Day Book which has many things to do indoors that are also very simple for him and clever. He really likes playing the games and he is quick to learn the object of these as learning tools. He is ready for pre school so these books give you many top notch things to keep himself and us busy during this sad and trying time. Thank you for having these books at our fingertips.
