Didn't know what to expect when I first started reading this book. From reviews I read I knew I was gonna like it, but it wasn't long until twists started to come up one after the other and got me completely hooked. And the twists got better and bigger as I was progressing The One The one thing that stands out in this book is that Marrs is a particularly gifted writer. Specifically, he's written a novel primarily about 5 people that were all at least moderately interesting but written in such a way that I was unable to put it down. The John Marrs and 2 I should have read further into this book. With the first couple of short paragraphs there's a young woman lying dead on the floor having been gruesomely murdered.how original. YAWN! isn't it time to move on from this? Audiobook I had to read this for book club and found it to be one of the worst books Iâve ever read. The writing was painfully bad and many of the plot twists were just silly and far fetched. The characters werenât developed and not believable. It was an interesting premise (and may John Marrs and 2 I really enjoyed this and though mostly predictable, there were some pretty nice plot twists. I really enjoyed a particular storyline that started off being my least favourite and ended as the only one I was 100% emotionally invested. Characters were well drawn The One
I never leave reviews for books as I think that they are completely subjective. However, this book is by far the BEST I have ever read. I have already forced my closest friends and family members to purchase a copy and read it, just so I could talk about it! I have Would you take a DNA test to find your soul mate? How far would you go to find true love? With a simple swab, you will soon be matched with your genetic soul mate. That is a promise from Match Your DNA, a company which discovered the gene 10 years ago and has English So many twists and turns, almost all of them clever and perfectly timed. Makes you think about the search for a soulmate and the self doubt we can all feel in relationships sometimes, wondering if the grass is greener. Fast paced and engaging read. The One I gave up on this book at chapter 22 owing not only to the vile, violent scene but also the mediocrity of the writing. It started off quite promising and together with the excellent reviews I thought it would be a book worth reading. I was wrong. So far fetched. Characters unbelievable and very short chapters jumping from one character to another meant there wasn't any real depth for me. Sexual references and scenes for me were amateurish and could be mistaken for having been written by an adolescent! I rarely abandon a book so early on but I'd really had enough of this. English I bought this book due to the extremely high ratings, but was definitely disappointed. At a push I'd perhaps give this 3.5 stars, but certainly not 5 or even 4. There were some interesting ideas in the book, and some of them were explored to a certain extent. One moment in particular stands out as truly excellent, (which I won't spoil for those who want to read this), and I certainly did enjoy parts and found myself wanting to read . However, other parts I found boring and were a bit of a slog to get through, some characters dry and simply annoying. It reminded me a little of the last jedi star wars film, where you can see the writer has tried to subvert the audience expectation, but as in that film, the book does so poorly and in the end I felt it fell flat. The book toys with the idea of soulmates both being true and relevant, and then at the same time both needless and pointless. The book attempts to bolster the hollywood perception of fireworks going off when you meet the person you are 'supposed' to be with the rest of your life, and then at the same time, shows that this can be a false feeling that peters into nothing, but doing neither in a very definitive way that left me with a sense or annoying ambiguity at the end. Whereas some films/books have vague endings that leave the reader thinking about what could or should be, or thinking about the themes over a few days, the ambiguous ending to the characters felt disingenious to some of them and just simply unsatisfying. It's like the writer wanted you to buy into something completely and then shatter the readers perception by declaring it false, but instead of doing this, leaves you with this sort of murky 50/50.
